The best way to get accurate measurements and find the best fit for your prom dress is to enlist a friend to help you. Measure your bust at the fullest part with your arms down by your side. Then measure your waist at its smallest part. Remember prom gown measurements are at your natural waist, not necessarily where your jeans sit.
