The History of House of Wu Prom
Dresses
Wu, the owner of House of Wu, "came to the formal wear industry in a roundabout
way, drawn by serendipity and opportunity. He earned a bachelor's degree
in engineering from National Ocean University in his native country of Taiwan
and then served two years in the Taiwan navy. Upon leaving the military
in the early 1980's, Wu decided to continue his studies in the United
States." After graduating he decided on a bridal shop. Wu
initially partnered with the owner of an existing shop, but soon ventured out
on his own. That's when he loaded his car with gowns, samples and photographs,
and hit the road as a salesman, selling Tiffany Design prom dresses, and from there the company blossomed into a huge
success. Wu now manufacturers, designs and owns one of the largest prom
dress design houses in the U.S.
House
of Wu Line of Business
In Wen Wu's (the
owner of Tiffany Designs, line of business, "perfection is
everything." Under the name House of Wu and with several designer
labels, the company designs, imports and distributes the prom dresses and gowns
that for many women mark major life events- weddings, proms and pageants.
The business itself has passed some significant benchmarks. Twenty years
ago, Wu traveled from store to store, selling prom dresses from the trunk of
his car. Now he operates out of 45,000 square feet." Wu
started his business with just the prom line Tiffany Designs, and now it has
grown to include Panoply, Studio 17, and Hannah S. These four divisions
of House of Wu have become known as the Fab 4 Collection of Prom
Dresses.
House of Wu's Growing Success

Wen Wu having a knack and understanding of the changing fashions in the prom
world, Wu's engineering background helped him to build a solid foundation for
the business. It has allowed him to develop a sprawling network that
operates out of 45,000 square feet, "All the space is a testament to the
company's growing success. The House of Wu annually ships about 250,000
prom gowns to more than 2,800 retail outlets in the Americas, Europe, Asia and
the Middle East. With another shipping facility in China and connections
around the world, he has established an international network."
